Korea Tomorrow 2017
What I wanted to do more than anything was to carry soil in my arms into the exhibition hall. In the past, I have drawn the land and adapted soli into pulp and introduced it into the gallery. I thought that the only way to achieve my objective was to allow visitors to experience the true nature od soil by letting them touch, taste, and chew it. I want to awaken the public.
We’re distancing ourselves from soil. We don’t know how to farm, we don’t want to step on soil, and we don’t allow our children to touch it. Once we detach ourselves from soil, not only do we become distant from nature, we become disassociated with humanity and see only evil things. Soil is a living creature ; it takes in and exhausts moisture.
My goal was to introduce soil into physical spaces for art and our daily lives.
