Tomorrow 2014
My design method blends and juxtaposes logical process and intuitive inspirations. Probably this execution strategy came from the well-mixed experience of both Korean design based on aesthetic values and Dutch design built on logicality. So I don’t think my design activity is well organized, yet the biggest issue for me, as a designer, is that I always want to be located in the core of social context.
I’ve started the Kiwa(Korean roof tile) project since 2012 and it is fully about disappearing beauty of Korea around us. I wanted to offer a new life toKiwa that have different colors and textures depending on the kind of mud, the baking temperature and age. Andsimultaneously it is also personal challenge for me, as a designer, to the new material values and techniques.
