In between spaces
When we gaze at an object, what are we actually peering into?
My works have long asked the question of the seen and the unseen.
Believing that greater tales were to be told beyond the seen
I wished to embody it in my work, and selected clear resin as my material.
The transparent nature of resin was ideal in drawing the onlooker’s gaze to the surface of the object and then deeper to its core.
I dream of visual transcendence.
Through the transparent material, I create immaterial and amorphic objects,
dreaming a rendezvous of with the ultimately arcane and unknown world.
My work is done on a plane, but it embodies space.
It sounds impossible, yet the eyes ascertain the existence of space.
From layer to layer, In Between Spaces exist in the ambiguous boundaries between layers.
Although it is merely a lump filled with transparent material,
its transparence gives it volume and space.
It is my wish that those transparent In Between Spaces become saturated with contemplation.
My experiments of recent years have focused on overcoming the superficial,
to display the space in its essence.
I want to rid all form and look to only the layers of colors and lines
to approach the unknown world of the infinite and mysterious.
