JANG Jongwan
Korea Tomorrow 2017
I portray precarious utopian scenes.
We seem to live in troubled times. The ship named Utopia left port full of hope but is now on the verge of sinking due to being caught in a typhoon or being stuck on a rock. As the surrounding scenes are still beautiful, however, passengers of this ship may not feel any crisis. The promising, advanced, and abundant future has never come. I am chronicling present anxiety and contradiction in my work with a very passive attitude, waiting for the advent of an unidentified hero.
