CHOI KyoungTae
Korea Tomorrow 2015
As the ‘doll’, my actual collection, is not only a pictorial object but also image of desire, sometimes I can feel the doll and myself horrendous perceived from the doll at the same time. I get to know that the doll is no more a simple object but the resemblance of myself and ourselves.
The doll that looks like human being can be trivially transformed desire towards human body, or another desire corresponding to it towards human body. Desire can be a personal, pictorial problem, a secret remark on desire, and my pictorial remark towards a social world that can communicate as a code of desire. The ‘doll’ is a little more indirect, metaphorical image, compared to direct realistic description on human body, and can be a pictorial remark towards individuals and the world in regards to desire.
