Korea Tomorrow 2014

This wheel thrown vase ‘Waterdrop’ is made of highly refined white clay. After being bisque fired, I applied celadon glaze very thickly to it and fired the piece at 1280℃ in a reduction atmosphere. I apply glaze much more thickly than is normall done, and this requires a great deal of technical expertise.  Ceramics produced in this way not only imparts a vivid feeling of mass of glaze but shows deep, unique color as a thick glaze coating brings subtle variations in shades of blue.
