Korea Tomorrow 2016
My photographic works have been focused on space and human body, and are classified into three series, although they have the same context. The photographs included in the “Space Measurement (2006-2010)” series, in which human bodies were converted into weights and measures, “force-form (2011-2012)” series that conveys the weight of a space when we face certain spaces, and “Lost Form (2013-2014)” series that indirectly portray a swimming pool, show bodies intertwined in a space and rediscover them. The reason and the method by which I reinterpret spaces are as follows: a space can turn into a place when there is a body that can movie on its own. The three photography series prove that bodies are intertwined with places and places represent human bodies and memories. And I wanted to show, in my works, the moments when spaces turn into places, the daily life arranged in spaces, and the spiritual weight of spaces. When a person disappears, so does the space. Therefore, a place is a combination of a space and human body, and I discover places through photography.
